All Dressed Up...

A couple of weeks ago we were planning a trip to the library and Eden wanted to dress up to go. I couldn't think of a good reason why she shouldn't, so she put her best princess dress on and her "cowgirl" hat and all her jewelry and declared that the "princess cowgirl" was ready to go. When we walked into the children's section everyone just turned and stared and then started to ooh and aah over her. She loved it, of course. She was a little disappointed that people kept calling her a beautiful princess and not a beautiful princess cowgirl, but sometimes we just have to deal with those little disappointments life gives us, right? Of course the outfit came off before we left the library but she had a great time and I felt like a great mom because I let her dress up...definitely a win-win :)

It only took me forever...

I've been working on a couple of sewing projects and I am finally finished! I decided to make Eden a skirt, and Sage a matching dress. Eden's skirt has been finished for a while...maybe since March. But it took me much longer to finish Sage's dress...but at least they are finished!!! This is the best picture I could get because the girls were not very cooperative, but I am pleased with how they turned out. Of course, Eden thought that she should have a dress too and not just a skirt so we have already picked out fabric to make Eden a dress. I guess I should just be happy they like what I made.

Eden's Art Gallery

Eden has become quite the little artist. She draws cats, spiders, bees, ladybugs, people, etc. I have chosen a few select drawings to display. Her mediums of choice are pastel (chalk) and acrylic (washable paint). The pastels have already been sold, but the acrylics are still available to the highest bidder :) But hurry they are going fast!

She labeled these herself, she didn't even ask how to spell mom. Notice my very awesome eyebrows and glasses. I think it is a very good likeness :)

This is, of course, a Bne (bunny). She also spelled this one herself. She always has a goofy look for the camera...I think it adds to the pictures, don't you?

The Saddest Thing

Daniel has been traveling a lot for work. Since April he has been gone for a week at a time every few weeks it seems. This past week he was traveling again. He got home Friday night and the girls were very happy to see him. We just lounged on Saturday and enjoyed having our Daddy back. Well Eden took a nap Saturday afternoon and while she was napping, Daniel went to return the rental car he used on his trip.

When Eden woke up from her nap and realized her Daddy wasn't there she started to cry and said that she missed her Daddy. Then she asked, "Can we go see Daddy at his house?"

It totally broke my heart (and Daniel's) that she thought her Daddy didn't live with us because he has been gone so much. I told her that Daddy was just returning his rental car and that he would be home very soon and that he most definitely lived with us.

We have definitely missed Daddy and are very glad he doesn't have to travel for a while so that the girls know he actually lives here.

Our California Adventure - Part 2

What trip to California wouldn't be complete with a stop at Disneyland? And that is exactly what we did. Three days in the land of Mickey Mouse. We played super hard and we were soooooooooooo tired by the end of day three. I haven't been that tired in a long time. But we sure had a great time. Eden's favorite ride was the tea cups...we rode it 3 times in a row because there was no wait, and then Mommy had to be done because she was getting a little "tea" sick. Sage's favorite ride was It's a Small World...she kept pointing at all the dolls and clapping and singing. It was really cute. Of course we ate lots of good food(nothing beats Disneyland popcorn) and had a great time seeing family. Eden already wants to go back, and I'm sure if Sage could talk, she would agree too!

We got to have breakfast with Minnie Mouse and all her friends. Eden loved it, but Sage was freaked out by all the characters...she kind of warmed up towards the end. Poor Sage.

One of the highlights of the trip was getting to meet Tinkerbell. Tinkerbell and Terrance really spent a lot of time with Eden talking to her about all kinds of things and even calling her "Tinker-Eden" Eden just loved it.

We couldn't pass up Lightning McQueen and Mater...one of Eden's favorites!

Sage got her very own Minnie Mouse Ears

And Eden got to drive a car...she can't wait to borrow Daddy's keys

We rode ThunderMountain Railroad lots of times (its my favorite). I even got Eden to go on it once, but the dark parts scared her....yes, she is afraid of the dark but not going super fast on a roller coaster....go figure :)

We had the best time and even though we were so tired, we can't wait to go again soon. But it will probably be a couple of years. Maybe next time Sage won't be scared of Mickey Mouse ;)

Our California Adventure - Part 1

We went to beautiful southern California for Daniel's brother's wedding. The weather was absolutely perfect. It was hard to leave the mid to high 70's for hot and humid weather at home, but we had a great time. Sage adjusted pretty well to the new time zone....she woke up early the first day (4am) and wanted to stay up...but after that she adjusted just fine. Sage also decided to try out crawling while we were on vacation. Sage also had a whole bunch of other firsts....first airplane ride, first trip to the beach, first time to see the pacific ocean, and first trip to Disneyland (more on that later). She also got to see her Great Grandma Rose for the first time. We stayed in a beach side hotel with Grandpa Ron, Grandma Nancy, Great Grandma Jill, and Eden and Sage's cousins Dawson and Kennedy. Never a dull moment, and there was always a lot of fun to have.

Sage is trying out her sunglasses to make sure they meet her approval before we go on our trip
Sweet Grandma Rose...we don't get to see her very often

Eden and Sage on the beach. Sage tried to eat the sand and a sea shell...but she like twirling those little toes in the sand.

We buried Eden's legs and then she buried Daddy's legs. We also made a sand castle and looked for seashells.

Eden and Grandma Jill doing a puzzle. Grandma Jill brought this puzzle just for Eden because she knows that Eden just loves puzzles.

The two girls getting ready for the wedding...they look like they are up to no good, don't they?

Enjoying the beautiful view before the wedding

The girls hanging out with Grandpa Brent and Grandma Laura. Eden didn't really want to sit still for the wedding and I think her dress was bugging her because she leaned over during the wedding and asked if she could get naked. We settled on losing the sweater and the sandals but she had to keep her dress on...silly girl. Sage sat with Grandma Laura the whole time and was a very good girl. Mommy was so glad because Daddy was the best man and Eden wanted to get naked...:)
