I forgot one...

Eden was playing fairy princess in her very nice dress up clothes, all her jewelry (and I do mean A LOT) and her magic wand. She was waving it around and asked me if I wanted her to turn me into something with her magic wand. I said sure so she waved her wand and bam!

I asked her what she turned me into....

she said, "A sandwich." and then she walked off.

I didn't get to be a princess, or a fairy, or a magic unicorn...I got to be a sandwich. I guess I should have asked her what kind of sandwich.

A few of the latest Eden-isms

Eden always has something cute to say....always. I try to post as many of her cute little Eden-isms, but I can't post them all because there are too many and not enough time. Here are a few of my favorites this past couple of weeks.

I asked Eden to do something for me (I can't remember what) and when she was finished I said, "Thanks so much Eden!" and she said, "it was my pleasure!" and then went about her business. It was my pleasure? What 3 year old says that? I guess I shouldn't be surprised anymore, but I am still shocked at the things that come out of that girl's mouth.

We have been frequenting Sonic lately and Eden likes to get water. She likes to get water so she can make silly slurping and spitting noises so Sage will laugh at her. I've tried to tell not to do it but honestly, I really don't mind because it is only water and I enjoy the sound of those giggling girls way more than the spitting of the water bothers me. But Eden somehow knows she is not suppose to be doing this because the last time I handed her her drink she said, "Now don't look back here and don't tell me anything!" Or in other words, let me do these things I'm not suppose to so Sage will laugh at me. So I let her...I just have to remind her she can't spit things out when she orders something else.

Daniel has been gone a lot for work lately...two big trips back to back. He is finally back now, but he still has to go into the office. When Eden woke up yesterday and Daddy wasn't home she asked how many sleeps until Daddy comes home. I told her it wasn't anymore sleeps that Daddy was going to be home tonight and she was very confused. She asked if Daddy was on an airplane and I had to explain that Daddy was just at his office and that he would be home with us soon and she finally understood. Poor little girl. At least Daddy is not taking anymore trips for a while.

And my personal favorite, Eden has been commenting lately on the many wonderful things that Heavenly Father has created for us. Such as all the beautiful colors we can see, the trees, the flowers, the animals, and the "lots of lots of people", and then she throws in cars and buildings. I explain that yes Heavenly Father has given us so many things, but He didn't actually make cars and buildings...He made all the things that we used to make them, so I guess technically He did make them. She doesn't care, she is just very grateful for all the creations she can enjoy, and I am just grateful for her sweet little testimony that she knows all the things she loves come from a loving Heavenly Father.

When I'm All Grown Up

The other day I went visiting teaching and someone asked Eden what she wanted to be when she grew up. I've never asked her this, and I haven't really talked about the different kinds of "jobs" you could have when you grow up. It is probably because I don't like talking about my girls growing up...not yet anyway :) Back to the point...Eden responded, "A mommy!" "I want to be a mommy just like my mommy!".

I about melted right there on the spot. She said it matter of fact and then went right back to playing. It was the sweetest thing I've heard yet, because it wasn't a coached response and it makes me think that I must be doing something right if my sweet girl wants to be a mommy too.

Our First Camping Adventure

This past weekend we took our first camping trip as a family. I have to admit I was a little nervous about how Sage would do sleeping in a tent, but Sage and Eden both slept great! Sage slept in a sleeping bag with me and we decided that for next time she can even get her own sleeping bag. Poor Daniel, we forgot his sleeping bag so he tried to share with me until
Sage needed to be a little warmer and then he was pretty cold being covered up with a towel for the rest of the night. We also forgot our camp stove, salt and pepper to season the food, and jackets for the cold morning. Surprised we remembered to take anything at all? Yeah, we now have a camping checklist for next time. But despite all the things we forgot we had a really great time. And we can't wait until our next adventure.

There were thousands of wildflowers in bloom all along the side of the road on our drive there. We just had to stop and pick a few.

Sage loves being outside we discovered. She is sitting in Eden's camping chair. We took her Bumbo seat with us but it is too close to the ground and affords Sage the opportunity to eat dirt and pine needles so we quickly changed plans.

There is super camper Eden by our tent. Easy to set up and easy to take down...we were very pleased.

We didn't have time the night before to make s'mores after dinner because it was too late, so we had them for breakfast dessert Saturday morning. Nothing beats fire roasted marshmallows.

Saturday morning Eden and Daniel went for a hike while Sage took a nap in the tent and I caught up on some reading. They had a great time but their adventure turned out too be longer than planned because they made two wrong turns and ended up walking the whole length of the state park. Daniel had to carry Eden a lot of the way, but they both had a good time and made it back to camp.

They discovered a lizard...he's got pretty good camouflage don't you think?

Eden had a great time playing in the dirt before we packed up camp. It is all over her face, hands, shirt, pants...you get the idea.

Too Many "Friends"

Sage was supposed to be taking a nap so I expected her to be quiet, but Eden was too quiet. When I went to investigate this is what I found (somehow I had a suspicion that I should take my camera)....do you see a little hand? Poor Sage. Eden thought she would help Sage out by making sure she had plenty of "friends" for her nap. Sage was fine and we have since instructed Eden about the dangers of too many "friends".

Looks Like I've Got Another Daddy's Girl

Yesterday I got Sage to say "Ma". Not "mama"...just "ma" and then Daniel and I both looked at her and said, "Say Mama" and she looked right at Daniel and said "Dada" and that was the end of it.

So it looks like we have another Daddy's girl. It just means more "mama" time to herself because both girls always want "Dada" :)

Happy 3rd Birthday Eden!

We started off the morning bright and early so Eden could open her presents before Daddy had to leave for work. Of course, Ginny-cat had to help. Eden got a new game for her leapster, a fun magnetic pattern block game, and the big item - an art easel and all the accessories! The binky fairy left an awesome marble race game...must be because Eden gave up so many binkies ;)

The first thing she wanted to do was make a necklace with the bead kit her Daddy got her.

Then she painted a beautiful rainbow all by herself. I didn't even tell her what to paint. She just said, "Look Mommy I painted a rainbow!" and I turned around and there it was...such a proud mommy was I.

Then we made her birthday cake and pretty much played all day long. We went to dinner at Red Robin and all the waiter/waitresses sang to Eden and she thought that was the best thing in the world. They even brought her an ice cream sundae. Then we went home and celebrated with more cake, ice cream, and of course, party hats!!! Eden told us before she went to bed: "This was the best birthday ever!"
